Despite having a pinched nerve in my neck, I have been trying to manage a little sewing in the last couple of weeks.
I have been making the Sew Together Bag, which I first saw Kati's version of on Instagram and instantly fell in love with.
So far, its been going together really nicely. My zips were an inch too short so I used tabs, and in fact, I think I would do this in any case if I was making it again, easier sewing all round.
But now that I'm ready to put the exterior on, I am totally stalled. I can't make a decision what fabric to use, whether to piece it or not, and if I piece it, what design. I originally intended to use the nice sewing-themed navy fabric that I used for the exterior of the side panels. But then I thought it would be too dark. And I think I really want to piece it.
Help please, inspire me!
Very nice.. Sweet... Don't know how you manage to sew. I have a pinched nerve in my upper back with pain down my arm and am in agony. Can only get out of my recliner for an hour at best and then the pain takes me back to the chair. The incline seems,to relieve the pain a bit.. Am not a blogger but follow on FBook...
ReplyDeleteLove that bright colour. So you!
ReplyDeleteIt'll be gorgeous whatever you decide!
ReplyDeleteI really need to make one of these!
It is just lovely...I'm sure that you will come up with something that will make it look just amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love it and I would be piecing it
ReplyDeleteMaybe something pieced with a natural colored linen background?
ReplyDeleteYour zips look perfect! I'm going to make of these...well, I have the pattern at least! I'm thinking of a patchwork of Liberty for my outside! I know that doesn't help you but I think some simple patches would look great!
ReplyDeleteIt's very refreshing to hear that you also get stalled while trying to finish a project. I know you'll work it out and (hopefully) be happy with your results. Thanks for the honesty!
ReplyDeletePatchwork would be so cute or one (or both!) Sides with a small paper pieced scissors. I made one of these quite a while ago and use it all the time! Very handy for hexies :)
ReplyDeleteI so want to make one of these and yours is gorgeous and colourful. The tabs ends are inspired. I'm sure what ever you come up with will be fab. Hope the neck is better soon. i suffer with my neck and it's horrible
ReplyDeletelove this pouch, hoping to have a go too when one of our ladies at the MQG shows us how.
ReplyDeleteA little hexie cover would be adorable...with a bit of hand stitching to set it off.
ReplyDeleteHow are you feeling? Pinched nerve sounds awful.
Hope you're getting better day by day. How about a scrappy improv exterior- or pieced selvedges if you have any saved?
ReplyDeleteI have a lovely fabric wallet which is in need of a cleaning even though I haven't had it very long.... it's a red background floral, very pretty! BUT - if I was you, I would use a dark fabric for the exterior, with maybe a pieced in lighter area?? If you end up wanting lighter colors, maybe Scotchguarding that exterior would be helpful?? But, maybe this is washable - I didn't look!!
ReplyDeleteSure hope your neck improves - that really sucks.
The pouch is looking very pretty. I'm amazed you can do anything with a pinched nerve in your neck. I can't do much of anything when I have neck pain. Makes me feel really fatigued and ill. Hope you've got it sorted now.
