Today is Sew Mama Sew giveaway day and I have a really lovely giveaway for you today :-)
If you're visiting my blog for the first time as part of this giveaway, welcome. I'm so happy to meet you! I'm Sarah, I'm a modern Irish quilter living in beautiful Cork in the south west of Ireland. I love making quilts and pretty things. I'm a super busy working mum, with 3 smallies and a lovely hubby to look after, in addition to my job and my quilting addiction. You can find out some more about me here and you can have a quick look at my gallery of lovely projects here. I hope that you will come back and visit me again when the giveaway is over :-) Because my life is so madly busy at the moment, I don't get to blog quite as often as I'd like. But I do post pictures of what I'm working on over on Instagram and on my Facebook page all the time, so do please come and chat with me on one of those places! You'll find the links for all the places I hang out online up on the top right of my sidebar.
I spent a little while thinking about what to give away today for the Sew, Mama, Sew! giveway day. And I thought it should be something I would love to win, if I was entering. So today's prize is a combination of my 2 favourite things - fabric and a quilt book.
First up, I have put together, from my own (rather overflowing at this stage) stash, a lovely bundle of fat eighths in a rainbow of colours. There are 2 FEs of each colour. The fabrics are all gorgeous, designer quilting cottons from designers like Aneela Hoey, Kate Spain, Vanesa Christenson, Lizzy House, Tanya Whelan etc. That's 2 whole yards of fabric!!
The second part of the prize is the lovely quilt book Modern Baby.
This book is full of lovely patterns for baby quilts, including my one of my own patterns, Modern Shapes Sampler:
I'll keep the entries simple. I'm putting together my Christmas wish list, and of course, quilt books are on it. For your entry, tell me what your favourite quilt pattern/book is. Please ensure that you leave your email address in your comment unless you are absolutely 100% certain you have your Blogger profile set up to receive replies via email.
For a bonus entry, follow me over on Instagram (@sewfairyface) or Facebook (facebook.com/fairyfacedesigns) and let me know you do.
I will ship internationally. This giveaway will close on the evening (Irish time) of December 13th. Winner will be drawn at random. If I cannot contact the winner, I will redraw.
Good luck!

Celebrating 3 Years - a big giveaway!
It's hard to believe that 3 years have passed by since I nervously started blogging about my sewing.
It's been a fantastic, fun journey where I have made lots of new friends (you know they're proper friends when your husband starts referring to them by name instead of calling them the internet people) learned about a million new things and discovered a lot of stuff about myself along my way.
I made lots of beautiful things - these are some of my favourites:
Most importantly, it has made me happy :-)
So, to celebrate and say thank you to my lovely friends and readers, I'm having a giveaway. This is not a sponsored one, everything I'm giving away is from my own stash and I hope you like what I picked!
Firstly, 3 beautiful FQs of Nordika in the Alpine Valley colourway:
Next, from my (if I do say so myself) scrap bin of loveliness, 100 die cut hexies (sides measure 1.5" unfinished). I fussy cut quite a few of these to make them even more fun. There are loads of gorgeous fabrics in here.
A copy of the Modern Baby book:
And lastly, I couldn't resist putting a little handmade something in there, so I've included a phone/camera cozy.
I think its a lovely bundle, and I hope you do too. Here they are, all together:
One lucky person will win it all! To enter, its very simple, all you need to do is leave a comment telling me where you follow me - whether its Bloglovin, Feedly, Facebook, Instagram etc. New followers are more than welcome :-) You can find the links to follow me in various places up on the top right of my sidebar. For a bonus entry, share this giveaway on your blog, Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest etc and let me know in a second comment where you shared it.
I will post worldwide. The giveaway will close on Monday evening 19th August. I will choose a winner randomly shortly afterards and will announce the winner by editing this post. Please leave your email address in your comments, if I cannot contact the winner within a reasonable time frame I will redraw.
**Giveaway now closed. Winner will be announced on this post shortly**
Edited Tuesday 20th August.
Thank you everyone for your lovely, lovely comments on the giveaway. I loved reading them all. There can be only one winner however, and that was no 147,
who is Jan. Congratulations Jan, I have emailed you!!

Welcome Fat Quarter Shop & Giveaway!
I hope that you are all having a lovely weekend! I am delighted to introduce my newest sponsor on FairyFace Designs, Fat Quarter Shop.
I'm sure I don't need to tell most of you what a great fabric shop it is! It has a HUGE selection of fabric - yardage, precut, kits etc, as well as thread, patterns, sewing notions and lots more, including quilt clubs and Block of the Month programs. It has a brilliant sale section too, I always keep an eye on it because sometimes the deals are just amazing - including their specials which you can always find through following them on Twitter or their Facebook page. And in addition to all that, they have a fantastic reputation for service and delivery.
Fat Quarter Shop was founded by Kimberly Jolly back in 2003, and in 10 years it has grown from a small business that she worked on in the evenings and weekends in addition to her day job, to now being a large full time operation employing a number of staff. In addition to selling all that gorgeous fabric, Fat Quarter Shop is also really immersed in the online sewing community with a great blog, the Jolly Jabber. I love reading the interviews with fabric and quilt designers which are regularly on the blog.
At the moment, the Jolly Jabber is hosting a great free sew along to celebrate 10 years of Fat Quarter Shop - The Deck-ade the Halls Quilt Along. Every 2 weeks, a free PDF pattern is uploaded for each section, with an accompanying video tutorial and you will have a completed quilt top by mid-September, giving lots of time to get it quilted and finished in time for the holidays. You'll find all the video tutorials here and if you want to use the gorgeous Aspen Frost fabric that the FQS quilt is made of you'll find it here, including kits for the pattern.
Fat Quarter Shop is offering a great giveaway today, a $25 gift voucher for one lucky winner for the shop! What will you use it for? Maybe some Briar Rose, Nordika or Just My Type? Or something else? Leave a comment and let me know for one entry. For a second entry, follow me over on Facebook or Instagram and leave a comment letting me know you do. This giveaway is open until next Friday morning, 2nd August and I will pick a winner then. If I cannot contact the winner, I will redraw. Thanks so much to Fat Quarter Shop!

WIP Wednesday
Its been a productive week here at FairyFace HQ, I think maybe the sunshine is making things flow easier and faster! In any case, I have a lot of projects that I've managed to finish/make significant progress on.
In addition to some very satisfying finishes, I have been making progress on my Made to Measure quilt (from the Handquilted with Love book).
This is the first medallion quilt I've made and I'm really enjoying the process. After making the centre and the first border, I decided to add a teal/aqua border with orange and purple pops as I didn't want to get stuck in a pink and orange colour scheme. I doubted this choice a bit, and I really wasn't sure about the purple border 3 when I was making it. But now that I've put on the grey Loulouthi last border (I have been hoarding that print for just the "right" project for a long time!) I am delighted with how its looking, I love the jewel tones. The next border is going to return to pinks and oranges again - the brighter the better! But all those HSTs, especially the teeny tiny ones for the star cornerstones, make for a lot of work so I might take a break for a few days.
I've also been basting hexies in the evenings when I'm sitting down in front of the tv. I cut these from fabrics in my scrap bin one weekend using my Go! Baby when I was trying to make some room in it - I have over 400 of them! I gave some to a friend, and started basting the rest. Not sure what I'm going to make with them yet, but I need a new cushion cover for my sewing chair, and I'm thinking I may use them for that - particularly as there are so many favourite scraps from lovely projects in there. They're small - the sides are only 1" long, but because they are that size, they were perfect for some of the teeny tiny scraps I had.
I'll keep adding to them until I decide! I have a lot more than I need though so I'm running a little giveaway for 100 of them over on Instagram where I am @sewfairyface - head over there and check out my photo for details of how to enter.
This week's finishes include my Kona tumbler quilt:
And my triangular Echo placemats:
I also tackled one of Ayumi's lovely projects in her book Patchwork Please! - the Prettified Pincushion. I found this a little bit tricky to make - mainly because of the tiny little blocks, and working with the Essex linen was a bit different to cotton. (I also think baby brain had a significant contribution to my messing up the blocks more than once). But in the end I rescued it, and it turned out very pretty and is sitting proudly on my sewing table.

Destash Giveaway
One of the benefits of being at home full time on maternity leave is getting a bit of time to do jobs around the house that normally go on the long finger..like decluttering. My fabric stash is no exception and I have been trying to put some sort of order on it in the last week or so. I found I had a number of duplicate FQs and decided that to celebrate being "back" and to thank my lovely followers, I would give them away.
I have 2 giveaways. One is running over on my Facebook page for a bundle of 4 bright FQs. And I'm running a separate one here on the blog to win this lovely bundle of 7 FQs:
All from collections that I have loved.
First two from Hope Valley, middle three from Echo and the two on the right from 1001 Peeps.
*****GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED*******
To be in with a chance to win, just leave a comment. Tell me what your all time favourite fabric line is!
For a second entry, follow me over on Instagram and leave a comment saying you do - I'm sewfairyface over there.
For a third entry, share this post on your FB/Twitter/Blog/Instagram etc and let me know you did.
Entries will close this Sunday at approx 6pm and I will choose a random winner then. If you do not have an email address attached to your Blogger profile I will not be able to contact you, so please leave your email address in the comments. If I can't contact the winnner, I will redraw. I will post worldwide. Don't forget to go enter the other giveaway on FB too.

Did I mention I love quilting books?
So today was a happy day, because not one, but two stunners arrived in the post.
I order Sarah Fielke's new book Handquilted with Love a couple of weeks ago and have been anxiously watching out the window early each morning since hoping the postman would arrive with it in hand. Today, finally, the van stopped outside my house and I opened the door before he could even knock. And I was not disappointed.
The Made to Measure quilt on the cover is what drew me to it - but there are even more beautiful treasures inside. I took some pics of a few of my favourites - just a few, I love pretty much every quilt in there.
This book is stunning. I love quilting books but sometimes I love just looking at them and end up feeling I wouldn't/couldn't actually make any of the patterns for myself. But this is not one of those books. There is just one gorgeous pattern after another all the way through. It's fab.
My biggest issue now is - which one am I going to make first?
I really can't decide! I think I need a few more days poring over it to decide. Whatever one I pick, I have no doubt that any of these patterns would be perfectly suited to reducing the size of my overflowing scrap box. 2013 is going to be a stash busting year for me, I'm on a mission to clear out my mahooosive stash as much as I can! (Of which, more anon...)
I also got a book which I have had on my wish list for a very, very long time. Free motion quilting is something that I can do in the most basic of fashions, but I'm tired of looking at fabulous quilting on other people's blogs and not being able to even attempt it. After finding a project that I made a complete mess of last year attempting to pebble quilt it, I decided to order it at the same time.
When the kids were in their music lesson today and I was sitting in the car for half an hour, I sat and started reading it. I am SO thrilled I got this book. It is inspiring and practical in equal measure and I can't wait to start trying some of the patterns.
Check back in tomorrow when I am doing a small giveaway to help my destash process and celebrate the fact that my "sewjo" is back! In fact, I'm doing 2 giveaways. The first is currently running over on my Facebook page for 4 bright and cheerful FQs so pop over there to enter that. And I more to give away here tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you!

Celebrating 2 Years: A Giveaway!
Can you believe its been two years since I started blogging? I can't! What a journey it's been, and I've loved (almost) every minute of it. I've learned absolutely tonnes and I've made great, great friends along the way, both near and far.
I don't want to spend too much time reviewing, so I just put together a little collage of some of my very favourite projects in the last couple of year. I had a bit of a hard job picking them but lots of fun looking back through 2 years worth of pictures.
So, to celebrate, I have an amazing giveaway for you courtesy of the very generous Julie of The Intrepid Thread.
I have been swooning over the lovely fabrics just recently arrived in her fab shop and eventually picked some Oh Deer by Momo for the giveaway prize. This lovely bundle of 13 (yes, 13!!!) Fat Quarters in gorgeous fresh, cool greens, blues and browns will be the prize for the winner:
Are you swooning yet? I know I am. These have little boy quilt written all over them, in my book! If you want to buy some, you can find the full collection here. You might also like to check out Chicopee and Field Study which just arrived.
So here's the entry info. This is thank you giveaway for all my lovely followers so you can have 3 entries by leaving separate comments for each on this post:
1. Leave me a comment telling me what you would make with these fabrics
2. Like The Intrepid Thread on Facebook or sign up for the newsletter and leave a comment letting me know you do.
3. Followers of my blog or Facebook page get a bonus entry - just let me know how you follow, whether on GFC, Reader, Email or Facebook. New followers can enter.
Please note that I have had to change my comment settings to deal with high volumes of spam. This means I no longer accept anonymous comments - you need to have a have a Google account or Open ID. Please please leave your email address in the comment unless you are absolutely sure you not a no-reply blogger.
If I cannot contact the winner, I will redraw. Entries are open until 9pm (Irish time) on Sunday evening 27th August and winner will be drawn randomly. Duplicate entries will be deleted. Only comments on this post will be included in the draw.
Enjoy!

A Summersville Giveaway!
So, I'm not sure what the weather is like in your part of the world, but here in Ireland it is pretty awful. Think November. Think wind and rain and cold. Think winter clothes still being worn. Depressing, right? It's hard to believe its mid June. Fingers crossed that we get a few days of sunshine when I get my holidays from work in July.
Then I was talking to Cindy last week and she told me she got a big delivery in of Summersville and wanted to bring a bit of summer to someone out there. Yippee! So, thanks to the great Fluffy Sheep Quilting, I have a lovely giveaway for you, to cheer you up whether your weather is Irish or not!
The prize is 4 fat quarters of Summersville that I picked from her shop for you. I love these prints. They are so whimsical and fun. I bought a few myself over the weekend - I just love the town prints and this fab embroidery is what I want to do with them:
I showed it to my little boy as I think it would be fab on the wall of his bedroom, framed..but he wants to know why there are no trains! (one track mind, he has). Not to worry, I know it will be gorgeous! I love, love, love the Alphabet print too.
So, here is the prize:
Alphabet print in Coal, Town in blue, Flower Patch in Green and Hatch in red - a great, colourful combination.
All you need to do is to pop over to Fluffy Sheep Quilting and then come back and tell me your favourite Summersville print - you can find them here.
For a second entry, leave me an additional comment if you like Fluffy Sheep Quilting's Facebook page
For a third entry, sign up to the newsletter in the bottom right hand corner of this page and then come back and leave a separate comment saying you have.
Entries are open until 9pm (Irish time) Friday 22nd June and winner will be drawn randomly. Please leave your email address in your comment. If I cannot contact the winner (ie. if your profile is not set up for email replies) I will redraw. Duplicate entries will be deleted. Cindy will ship the fabric directly to the winner after I pass on the address.
Ready? Get commenting :-)

A Launch and a Giveaway, Fluffy Sheep Style!!
Yes! You read that right! Fluffy Sheep Quilting now has an online fabric shop and I am really thrilled to be one of the people to tell you about it. Those of you in Ireland will know that local shops selling gorgeous modern quilting fabric are few and far between, and can be very very pricey. So Cindy had the genius idea to set up her own and today is the big launch! Excited now? I thought so! See, now you can order the fabric and have it on your doorstep in a couple of days. I LOVE that. Of course, her sales are not limited to us Irish ladies, and Fluffy Sheep Quilting is set up to operate in euro, sterling or dollars, depending on where you are ordering from.
So, I am one of the lucky peeps who has had a little preview of her site, and I think you will find it fun and easy to navigate around, with lots to tempt you there. In addition to lots of crisp, yummy, scrummy modern fabric in stock, and more arriving all the time, Fluffy Sheep Quilting has a fantastic selection of Kona Solids. Cindy also is stocking Aurifil thread - at the moment her selection is the essential colours but the range is going to grow by leaps and bounds in the next few weeks.
So what are you waiting for? Get over there and have a look around. Don't forget to sign up for the newsletter, and to follow the shop on Twitter and Facebook so you can keep up to date with new fabric arriving and other updates. There is a great customer loyalty programme giving you points for every purchase to use against future purchases (you will need to register to accumulate points). Plus, Cindy is really open to suggestions and comments too - so if you're looking for something in particular, or if you want to suggest new Kona colours etc you can just let her know.
And, in case you needed another incentive, Cindy is offering a special launch week discount for all orders over €20. The coupon code is Launch10% This will give you10% off any order of 20 euro or more. The coupon is good from 14 May (Monday) to 21 May (Monday) on anything in the shop. You can use it as many times as you like! You don't have to login to use the coupon, but those not creating an account will be ineligible for the customer rewards program.
So, to celebrate the launch of her lovely shop, Cindy is sponsoring a rather brilliant little round of giveaways today and I am delighted to be hosting one of them. One of the things I talked to Cindy about when she was setting up the shop was how I love to put together my own FQ bundles. I'm looking forward to doing some browsing to put together one myself later today. But in the meantime, Cindy has a FQ bundle to give away to one lucky winner of this giveaway. The winner can choose one of the bundles listed in the store (some of which you can see in this post's pictures), or put together their own from 5 FQs of their own choice.
You have 3 chances to enter:
1. Visit Fluffy Sheep Quilting, have a little browse around and then come back and tell me what your favourite fabric is in a comment.
2. Sign up for the newsletter (you'll find the signup box on the bottom right hand corner of the shop page) and let me know in a separate comment
3. Like Fluffy Sheep Quilting's Facebook page or follow on Twitter and let me know in a third comment.
****GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED*******
The giveaway will close on Friday 18th May at 5pm Irish time and I will draw the winner some time after that using the random number generator. The lucky person will be sent their FQ bundle directly by Cindy.
This giveaway is open internationally. Please, please leave your email address in your comment unless you are 100% sure you can get replies via email to your comments. If I cannot get in touch with the winner via email I will redraw.
Lastly, don't forget to go visit Cindy, Hadley and Susan's blogs where there are other great Fluffy Sheep Quilting giveaways running today! Thanks so much Cindy for having me be part of your great launch and good luck with your exciting new venture :-)

Pattern Giveaway!
Yippee, it's giveaway time again! Today's giveaway is very kindly sponsored by my bloggy friend Kat, who has a fab blog Mumma's Time to Create which you should definitely go and have a little look around. Kat makes all kinds of beautiful things, and besides blogging about them, she also has a shop, where she sells handmade items, including some amazingly pretty toddler dresses. Check out her shop to see more - you won't be sorry! She has recently launched another arm of her business “Flutter from.Kat” to now include some sewing patterns, and is giving away her first two patterns here today. You should definitely keep an eye on her shop as she will be adding more patterns in the coming weeks.
I made this lovely zippy pouch before Christmas from the above pattern and found it super easy to follow. I was really happy with how it turned out and it was very well received by my friend!
This is a pattern I will definitely be using again :-)
I also can't wait to try the other pattern I am giving away today - for this insanely cute patchwork purse.

Sew Mama Sew! Giveaway Day
Another week, another giveaway! It's December after all! I have put together a little package from my own stash for you today and I hope you like it.
To everyone who is visiting for Sew, Mama, Sew! giveaway day - céad mÃle fáilte (or, to translate, a huge Irish welcome!) to my little corner of blogland. I hope that you stay and have a look around. This has been the year of quilting for me. I finished my very first quilt on 25th January this year and quickly became obsessed with the whole quilting process. So much so that I have made an average of 1 large quilt a month and lots of minis, table runners, mug rugs and other projects along the way, including jointly hosting the Across the Sea quiltalong with my friend Jennifer. Plus, of course, the 3 quilts that are in my sewing basket waiting to be finished by year end! I love to make colourful, modern quilts - big and small - with gorgeous fabrics and simple, clean design. Here are some of my favourite makes this year:
You'll find more about my finished quilts here. Next year, my plan involves lots of tutes and some quilt patterns so I would love if you came back and visited again when all the madness of the giveaways is over!
Later this week I will be posting a tute for these cute phone/gadget cozies - one for smaller gadgets, one for iPhones. They are super fast, and super easy and you can make them with scraps - perfect, last minute Christmas presents! So do pop back and check it out if you need some gift inspiration!
To all my loyal friends, well, you know how much I love you all :-) But I'll say it again, just so you're sure - you're the BEST!! I love how I have become friends with so many of you though commenting and chatting via email, and I really, really hope I get to meet lots of you in London in June at the Fat Quarterly retreat, funds and flights permitting (lets talk about that more in the New Year, will we?).
So, let's get to the important parts! Today's giveaway is all of my own fabric, from my (overflowing) stash baskets. In case you are wondering, my home is smoke free and pet free!
First up, I am giving a way a Fairy Tale Friends honeybun.
Nice, right? This honeybun consists of 45 1.5" strips, approx 44" wide. Have a look here for more info.
But that's not all, I'm also including 6 stashbuilding fat quarters. The fabrics are perfect mixer fabrics in a nice range of colours.
They are, from left to right: Freebird by Momo for Moda, Hideaway by Lauren and Jessi Jung for Moda, Grand Revival by Tanya Whelan for Free Spirit, Pinfeathers by Carina Gardner for Northcott, Midsummer Magic by Laurie Godin for Northcott, and 1001 Peeps by Lizzy House for Andover.
What do you need to do? I'm keeping this simple... you can have 2 entries. Please leave your email address in your comment in the following format: fairyfacedesigns (at) gmail (dot) com so that I can contact you.
1. Leave a comment telling me where in the world you are spending Christmas/your holidays this year. Mine will be here, at home, just outside Cork city in the very south of Ireland. (Everyone can enter on this comment, follower or not!)
2. For a bonus entry, let me know if you are a follower, new or old.
Important stuff: I will close the giveaway at 9pm Irish time (GMT) on Friday 16th December. The winner will be drawn using Random Number Generator. Giveaway is open internationally. I will delete duplicate entries. If I cannot get in contact with the winner by Sunday 18th December, I will redraw.
